Contests! One of the fun features of the FineArtAmerica website is the contests they run. 99% of these are just for fun—there are no prizes. Most of them only allow other FAA members to vote, but some of them allow public voting. Anyway, I enter these from time to time (I go through phases where I'll pay attention to them for a week or two and enter all that I qualify for, then I forget about them for months at a time), and when there is one with public voting, I will post it on my Contests Page in case you want to help me out by voting for my pieces. I will also post the FAA-only ones in case you want to watch the progress.

(I had one photo, one painting, and one sculpture in this one. My painting, "Pixie's Itch," at least made it onto the Leaderboard. I didn't place higher than that, though.) [Out of 586 entries.]

(I had two sculptures in this one They both received the same number of votes (as did two other pieces), which put them all technically in third place; however, the contest shows that my sculpture "Head with Swirls" got 3rd place, and all the rest were "Other Top Finishers"...though my "Climbing Out" scuplture is listed first among those ;).) Pet portraits executed by female artists FAA only; voting ended Saturday, May 19th, 2012 - 12:20pm
(I had one photo and one painting in this one. The painting made it onto the Leaderboard, which is decent enough, I guess, considering the number of entries and that I totally forgot about the contest.) [Out of 584 entries.]

Vivid and Dark General Public; voting ended Thursday, May 17th, 2012 - 4:43pm
(I had two photographs in this one; one of them made it to the Leaderboard, that's it.) [Out of 251 entries.]

(I had two pieces in this one: "Being Art, the painting you've seen a million times, and a sculpture. "Being Art" made it onto the Leaderboard, which is good considering there were almost 700 entries.) [Out of 685 entries.]

(I had two photographs entered into this one: Grasses and Blue Sunset. Grasses got 2 votes and Blue Sunset got 3. I didn't even make the leaderboard. I'm not really a "landscape" kind of artist, though, and there were 701 entries into the contest, so I'm not really that surprised or disappointed with the results.) [Out of 701 entries.]

(Mine were tied for 2nd place ) [they called it "3rd place" but I had the same number of votes as 2nd place] and a 5-way tie for 2nd runner up. Considering it was juried, I'm pretty happy with those results! Two in the top 10 ain't too shabby. ) [Out of 268 entries.]
